WOODY SAMSON & THE SEXY BOYS

Woody Samson, the multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and DJ, is a product of the lively and experimental music scene in Naarm, Melbourne.

Born in Maffra into a musical family, Woody began singing in Church choirs and started playing the trumpet at the age of 7, picking up as many instruments as he could along the way. At 14, Woody’s mother (a victim of addiction & abuse) disappeared, and music quickly became a lifeline and obsession while navigating the trauma filled childhood. In the following years, Woody began to find a unique type of joy from playing, and this joy can still be seen on stage today.

Having lived in 35 different houses, home for Woody is now a stage with a guitar, a trumpet, a synth/piano, drum machines, percussion, a voice spanning over 5 octaves, and a whole lot of fun. Woody arranges these instruments live on stage to create high energy cosmic pop, re-imagining the music of the 80’s with the sounds of the future.

After playing parts in many incredible projects throughout the years in musicals, orchestras and rock/metal/jazz bands, Woody’s show has transformed into a quirky powerhouse and he is now playing weekly as a resident musician at iconic Melbourne venues - Baxter’s Lot, The Espy, The Imperial Hotel, Bridge Hotel, Richmond Club Hotel, Apollo Bay Hotel and more.

2025 looks an exciting year for Woody with a move to team up with musical magicians Lewis Toms and Angus McKean to create “Woody Samson & The Sexy Boys” - the trio are an absolute handful. They played a sold out single launch at The Gaso in January and have a much awaited EP coming out midyear. For now, Woody is playing five gigs a week around town and is developing fun projects with musical friends - The Glamour, Lewis Ciavarella, Woody Samson & The Sexy Boys, DJ Woody, House Of Wood and more.
